Vancouver's new-to-the-world drug, Cialis, has been called 'the miracle drug' because it has become more effective in a variety of patients. But for some, the drug can be pricey.
The cost of the drug, a pill sold by the brand-name Viagra, can run about $15 to $30 per tablet, depending on where you buy it. For example, buying a pill with an estimated retail price of $30 for a month's supply could cost you about $600 for each month's supply, according to the Canadian Pharmacy Association. The same could be said for the brand-name Viagra.
The Canadian Pharmacy Association has been tracking the price of the drug since it began offering the drug, which is sold under the name Cialis. "It's a great idea for a lot of people," says Alyssa Baskin, a pharmacy owner and pharmacist who has seen her clients buy Cialis online. "You get the price that's on top of it, and you can't imagine going in and getting that pill. I would say, 'It's a great idea for a lot of people,' " she says.
A spokeswoman for the Canadian Pharmacy Association said that the drug is sold under the brand-name Viagra. "We are aware that the drug is not sold under any name," she says. "We are working with the pharmacist and the pharmacy to get the product on the shelf and we are working with them to ensure that it's in the right place. "We don't recommend the use of the Viagra for any reason."
To get the drug on the shelf, you have to have a prescription from a doctor, which can be filled by a pharmacist at a pharmacy or a doctor's office.
In Canada, Cialis is also sold in a generic form called tadalafil, which is a type of medication that can be taken either by mouth or on an as-needed basis, according to the CPA.
In the U. S., Cialis is sold as Adcirca by Eli Lilly Canada. Cialis was originally launched in the 1990s and has since been licensed to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. But in 2012, Eli Lilly Canada acquired the drug rights to Cialis from Pfizer Inc. In 2019, the Canadian government approved the sale of Cialis in Canada.
S. Cialis is also available for purchase under the brand-name Viagra. In some cases, the drug can be purchased at pharmacies or at online retailers. "There's a lot of variation in pricing, so the price is not always the best deal," says Dr. David M. R. Smith, a urologist at the Cleveland Clinic's Women's Health Institute.

1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
